CLUSTER EXPLANATION: Each cluster (grouping of students organized into select areas of concentration) will be responsible for leading one Tuesday class period (Feb. 20, 27 or March 6). On their scheduled Tues., each cluster will be expected to:
(1) Organize and moderate one panel of four or five SRPs (30 minutes). Each panel should also have one moderator and one discussant.
(2) Organize a group presentation on the theme of your cluster (literature review, research strategy, findings and analysis). This can be done however you like –but make sure it fits into the aim of helping your classmates make progress on their SRP (30 minutes). Involve as many students from your cluster as possible. Those who might not actually be part of the oral in-class presentation should provide a short (2 page) written summary of the thematic session for the professor and TAs. Any questions, contact Professor Pezzoli.

Meet outside class with those in your AOC cluster. You might want to coordinate "props" for your poster board presentation with others in your AOC. In the past, for instance, someone working on crossborder and international issues brought in a dozen national flags (borrowed from their UN internship) that represented the diverse nationalities of the USP Senior Sequence class of that particular year. Another person working on watershed management brought in a model of the regions watershed. While such props can add color to the overarching Expo, they are not necessary (and it does take work to set them up and take them down).. |

A note about the readings:
The emphasis in USP 187 shifts from proposal writing to thesis writing. Thus the readings concentrate more on focusing data (already collected) and on writing strategies. We also selected readings the draw attention to the normative aspect of your research (finding your "voice" --that is, your critical perspective/ standpoint). For a detailed list of the most important readings organized by category, click here.
