Ontology-driven Integration of Scientific Repositories
Link to an article (word doc) by a group at MIT examining methods for ontology-driven integration of scientific repositories. The abstract opens with the statement: " There is an increasing need to provide scientists and researchers as well as policy makers and the general public with value-added services integrating information spread over distributed heterogeneous repositories......To validate our ideas, we are currently developing a prototype for the area of Coastal Zone Management."

GENE ONTOLOGY(TM) CONSORTIUM
The goal of the Gene OntologyTM Consortium is to produce a dynamic controlled vocabulary that can be applied to all organisms even as knowledge of gene and protein roles in cells is accumulating and changing. The three organizing principles of GO are molecular function, biological process and cellular component.

The Global System for Sustainable Development (GSSD)

GSSD is a project of the Global Accords Consortium for Sustainable Development housed at MIT. GSSD a cross-referenced index to some of the best resources and materials on sustainability to be found on the Internet. They organize the material in an intuitive conceptual framework.
